Sailing with kids

The first images that come to your mind when you combine deep water, fast object with sails, no breaks, open space, and children are definitely 911 (in Croatia 195 for emergencies on the sea, always good to know), your kid in the water or hanging from the mast. In reality, sailing with kids can be a very pleasant experience if you don't think about the dangers all the time.

You don't have to have kids of your own to know how much trouble they can cause. There's no situation that they cannot turn into a mess and potential danger, either by accident or on purpose. They can tingle your nerve ends and climb up on your head as no one can, that being one of the earliest talents you recognize in them. The other big talent, a neutralizer of the previous one, is an ability to make you smile even in those nerve-breaking moments. Their smile is something you will never be fed up with, something that drives you to spend every minute of your free time with them, playing, laughing and learning.

One of the best ways to combine all of that is sailing. Of course, the first images that come to your mind when you combine deep water, fast object with sails, no breaks, open space, and children are definitely 911 (in Croatia 195 for emergencies on the sea, always good to know), your kid in the water or hanging from the mast. In reality, sailing with kids can be a very pleasant experience if you don't think about the dangers all the time. Your kids can get hurt anywhere, water is soft at least and hardly any sharks in Croatia. :)

Safety comes first, you know that. We are here to provide you with a safety net and life jackets for kids. These are the most popular, and probably the only precautions you need to take before you start your charter week with SunLife charter. The briefing is also important. Your kids should know how to behave themselves on the boat if it's their first time. Thinking again, even if it's the second, third or the fourth time...they are kids. :)

The second important thing you need to consider before you jump on the boat with little „monsters“ is provisioning. If you go to the next-door neighbor with a small child, you know you have to have your start-up package ready, so having all sorted up when going on the boat that will anchor for several days in some secluded bay is a must. Nowhere to run when your kid starts whining about not having its favorite toy or yogurt at hand. Definitely consider bringing board games, books as well, or take some water toys and snorkeling equipment from us, always good to have something to release all the energy of the young ones.

That being said, don't forget the most important thing of all!!!! Relax. Have fun. Enjoy in your offspring. Much better to have them on your boat and look at their smiling faces then Uncle John's hairy back imitating a whale getting stranded. If they fall overboard, don't panic. Use the boat's hook, it's there for a reason. ☺ Get your kid out of the water, give him a proper beating for not being careful enough and then hug him and comfort as the real parents do. ☺ SunLife Charter, your partner in upbringing.
